Island Blender — Mango, Lime, Lilikoi — Howzit Brewing

Evaluating unpasteurized expressions after ocean transport requires strict thermal controls. When buying Monkish beer in Hawaii or sourcing other mainland craft allocations, local collectors frequently encounter oxidized characteristics. Heat spikes on tarmacs and cargo container baking typically compromise the yeast and hop profile before the cans reach Honolulu shelves.
This batch of Island Blender — Mango, Lime, Lilikoi was shipped under our strict 38°F trans-pacific cold corridor, resulting in a pristine presentation. The mouthfeel is exceptionally clean, with the hop aromatics completely intact.
Island Blender — Mango, Lime, Lilikoi is Howzit Brewing's fruited take on a Berliner Weisse, the traditionally low-ABV German sour wheat style built for tartness and easy refreshment. At 6.2% ABV, this version runs higher than the style's usual range, giving the mango, lime, and lilikoi (passion fruit) additions more body to work with. Expect a hazy, sunset-colored pour, an aroma bursting with tropical fruit, and a tart, puckering front that gives way to a juicy, fruit-forward middle before finishing crisp and dry rather than sweet. At 7.6 out of 10, Island Blender earned its ledger spot as one of the most purely tropical, warm-weather beers in this lineup — a beer that tastes like its name suggests, blended fruit in a glass with just enough sourness to keep it from feeling like a smoothie. It's built for hot days and casual sipping. Howzit Brewing leans hard into Hawaiʻi's fruit — mango, lime, lilikoi — as its own kind of local ingredient list, and Island Blender is a clear expression of that approach: a beer that could only really make sense coming out of an Oʻahu brewhouse, tart and tropical in equal measure.
