Sommelier Audit Deconstruction
Fremont Brewing has grown into one of Seattle's most recognizable breweries while still keeping a foot firmly in both camps that matter to serious drinkers: a well-loved core IPA lineup and a barrel-aged program taken seriously enough to anchor an annual release calendar. Lush IPA is the beer most Seattleites reach for first — clean, resinous, built for everyday drinking rather than hype. The other side of the brewery shows up in B-Bomb, its barrel-aged winter ale, a rich, boozy, dark beer that gets cellared and traded the way strong ales from more barrel-obsessed breweries do. Running both a dependable IPA program and a genuine barrel-aging operation at real scale is a harder balance than it sounds, and it's a big part of why Fremont carries weight beyond just being a big Seattle name. Haliʻā watches Fremont for that range — Lush as a benchmark Pacific Northwest IPA, B-Bomb and its barrel-aged siblings as the kind of high-ABV, cellar-ready beer built to travel cold and improve with a little patience. Oʻahu readers: a Fremont drop can mean either a crisp Seattle IPA or a rich barrel-aged winter ale — both are worth the reefer seat.
