Sommelier Audit Deconstruction

Inu Island Ales operates out of Kaneohe, on the windward side of Oʻahu, putting it a little off the well-worn Honolulu brewery circuit — which is part of the draw. It's a neighborhood spot in the best sense, the kind of taproom that rewards the drive over the Pali or Likelike with a genuinely relaxed, local afternoon. An overall score of 4.0 puts it solidly in the middle of our Hawaiʻi lineup — a dependable, well-liked brewery rather than a flashy standout, and there's real value in that consistency. It's not trying to be a destination in the way some of the bigger Kakaʻako operations are; it's trying to be a good local taproom, and it succeeds. The INU Hazy Double IPA is the beer worth making the trip for — big, juicy, and a good showcase of what the brewery does with the hazy style, with enough strength to justify treating it as the main event of the visit rather than a warm-up round. Visitors doing a full Oʻahu loop should build in time for the windward side and make this the reason. Locals on the Kaneohe side already know it's their neighborhood's best excuse to stay close to home.
