Humble Sea Brewing Co., out of Santa Cruz, California, calls its hazy lineup "foggy" — a nod to the coastal weather and a house style built around soft, cloudy, fruit-driven IPAs. Gnarmander is the brewery's triple-strength entry in that line, a beer that pushes the foggy approach to its biggest, most intense expression. At 9.7% ABV, this is a Triple Hazy IPA built for weight as much as aroma — expect a fuller body and higher perceived sweetness than a standard hazy, with the juicy, orchard- and tropical-fruit character typical of the style carried by a heavier alcohol frame. It leans closer to a dessert IPA than a lawn beer, built for sipping rather than session drinking.
